Aloha Hawaii

The news of earthquakes and volcanic activity on the Big Island of Hawaii is now well-known. Last Thursday evening I received an alert just minutes after a 5.0 earthquake had occurred. This was the first significant earthquake, one that was expected to trigger a major eruption at Kilauea. We truly do live in an amazing time where I can call someone in Honolulu to inquire about the current conditions only to discover that I have  more information halfway around the world (practically) than they do just a mere 116 miles away. Having lived with asthma for several years now, I made the decision over the next 24 hours that it would be best to cancel a much-anticipated trip to Hawaii that was scheduled for just a few days in the future due to concerns about air quality.

As my heart breaks for the residents of Hawaii as they watch the devastation occur, I couldn’t help but wonder what the sunrise would look like were I there…instead of here…in Missouri. That thought settled for just a second before I walked outside and snapped the photo below.

Magnificent!

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
    the name of the Lord is to be praised. – Ps. 113:3

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23

(A)s far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us. – Ps. 103:12

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
    where morning dawns, where evening fades,
    you call forth songs of joy. – Ps. 65:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. – Heb. 13:8

What are some ways that the Lord speaks to you?
