Irrevocable Love

The word ‘irrevocable’ has been so much a part of my vocabulary this past year and as I was also reflecting on the promise of Christmas the two merged together.

I did a simple search on Google for the definition of ‘irrevocable’ and this is what it gave:

not able to be changed, reversed, or recovered; final

“an irrevocable step”…irreversible, unalterable, unchangeable, immutable, final, binding, permanent

When Jesus came to earth in the form of man, the world had heard prophecies and had expectations of what he would be like. Many supposed he would be the most handsome king ever. Rich? Of course. The most powerful the world had ever known.

All of these attributes are true but not in the worldly sense that we ascribe. More important, Jesus came with a specific purpose.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Irrevocable. No longer given the eternal destiny that we each deserve but instead life forever with the Father.

That challenges and encourages me so much. If the God who created me will keep his word for eternity – irrevocable – what am I facing today that I have any reason to fear?

Merry Christmas to all. My prayer is that your trust is in the irrevocable promises of Jesus Christ today and every day.

One might think that the Messiah would have been rich and powerful in order to accomplish what was expected… Instead a small babe born in a manger… ‘meek and mild’. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.. Diane xx
