Disappointment is Not the Boss of You

Jennifer Rothschild

How do you handle disappointments? Are you soaring right now, or are the holidays or other things making this a difficult time for you?

I have had several friends ask me to please pray for them during this season. Christmas is supposed to be a season of cheer, happy memories, joy, and more, right? If you are not in that place, this reblogged post by the wonderful author Jennifer Rothschild may help you gain some insight.

So where are you at right now?  How can I pray for you today?

I believe the holiday season is most difficult for those whom have lost loved ones. Well, it is for me. As for disappointments…I have learned not to expect anything from anyone as I could be potentially setting this person up to fail, which in turn would cause me disappointment.

From my perspective, I agree. I lost an older brother just days before Christmas. Some years are easier, some very painful with his absence. You are very wise to not put expectations on people that they may not be able to or even possibly want to keep. That is a challenging thing to do. I admire you for that.

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my brother two weeks after Christmas a few years ago. I have one sibling left from my family of origin. I lost my mom when I was 23 and my dad two years ago. My youngest sister March 2014. I have to believe they are always with me. Take care of you. =)
