What are you waiting for?

never too old to set another dream

Do you have some goals or dreams not yet started for your life? I hope so! I learned yesterday that a family friend took up painting at age 75. Another friend started ballet this week, at age 51. Me? I started yoga and Spanish lessons this summer.

Goals give you confidence. Start with something small. Maybe it is learning to make a pot of coffee once a week instead of buying it out every day…just to say you can do it. Practice making a meal, then invite a friend over for dinner. Do you have those down? Need some big challenges? Set yourself the goal to be accountable to someone about the heart issues in your life.

Everyone is at a different place in life and that’s the great thing in this journey. I can teach you how to make coffee, you can teach me Spanish, and we can hold each other accountable. In the end, we are both better for it.

Tell me some goals or dreams you have.

I have a goal to learn sign language. I took a class on it years ago and have been intrigued ever since. I also want to learn how to quilt. Both are things I hope to one day do…they are on my bucket list, so we shall see! I love your goals and ideas for goals! I don’t know how to make a pot of coffee so that’s another great one to add.

Those are great goals! My daughter uses sign language with her children for things like, Sit down, be quiet, etc. It’s amazing to see how useful it is in the hearing world because there is no yelling or raised voices. Quilting takes a lot of patience as well. My paternal grandmother quilted quite a bit. Thanks for sharing!

Well, I started blogging when I was 66, and painting a year ago last April at 68… and am really enjoying both, but I think that’s now about what I’m able to do… You’re right though, one is never too old… I would never have really thought I could do either.. at one point in my life… Diane

That’s a great post. My dreams… To get fit and healthy and stay that way, to be able to be really strong and athletic again (considering I’m about to turn 60), to write a novella or novel and get it published, and to fall in love and be loved back.

Those are outstanding goals! I am working on getting strong again as well. I have really lapsed in doing my strengthening exercises and it shows. I love to hear about people who want to get published. I have a friend from high school who found success in her genre through Amazon publishing. She eventually left a successful career and has now published a multitude of books, if that encourages you! Love… the greatest need any person has. I wish you much success in finding a kind soul to share your life with.

Really? Your friend self-published and found success? That’s awesome! I’d love to know how all that works. I found the discipline to exercise daily. Now I need to work on writing fiction daily. And thank you for your kind words. I wish you success on strengthening your muscles. Be sure to include stretching too. I’ve got a torn meniscus and a bad back… Osteoarthritis, tendinitis in my arms. I’ve got PT daily right now. I’ll likely have knee surgery too. Just as everything was getting stronger too. I started out with water aerobics, and now I go to the gym also. It’s cool when you find yourself stronger and more mobile. So rewarding. 😃

You can go here for beginning information on publishing with Amazon: https://kdp.amazon.com/ I know they made some changes recently so please accept my apologies if that is an outdated site. Thank you for the reminder about stretching – it is my downfall. I have been going to water aerobics as well (until a nasty virus took residence in my body and refuses to go home!). It is great exercise.

Oh, thanks for the info! I’ll check it out. I hope you feel better soon so you can get back in the water.
